Nothando Chiwanga
About the Artist
A multidisciplinary artist working in performance, photography, and collage, Chiwanga uses her own body as both archive and site of inquiry. Her practice interrogates the liminal space between personal narrative and collective experience — examining how contemporary womanhood is constructed, constrained, and reimagined within Zimbabwe's evolving sociocultural landscape.
Trained at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe's School of Visual Arts and Design (graduating 2019), Chiwanga has participated in workshops with artists Sithembile Msezane and Julius Mushambadope. She has exhibited internationally — from Lagos to Dubai to China — and completed residencies at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe and Releartsfoundation in Lagos, building a practice rooted in memory, domestic ritual, and embodied experience.
