Ebony Lewis
About the Artist
Born in Greenville, Mississippi and based in Dallas, Lewis specialises in painting and large-scale murals, with major public works across the city — Blues Alley in Deep Ellum, the Historic Queen City neighbourhood, and the Dallas YMCA. Through a rich symbolic language — clouds representing uncertainty, robots representing oppression, birds representing freedom — she draws viewers fully into her world and makes a case for thinking for oneself.
Lewis holds a BFA with an emphasis in painting and an M.Ed. from Texas A&M Commerce. Beyond her mural work, she has collaborated with DART and Neiman Marcus, and contributed to the Mayor's Star Council Bus Stop project. Her practice bridges art and education, rooted in her work as a history teacher and her commitment to connecting Dallas communities with their own cultural heritage.
